The Guthega area has some fantastic opportunities for Gravel Biking with superb alpine vistas! Below you will find a few of the local rides which you can combine with an enjoyable visit to BASECAMP Cafe. Refuel on a feast of tasty treats & pep up with a coffee to get you back in the saddle as you enjoy unsurpassed alpine vistas from the balcony of BASECAMP Cafe
Smiggins to Guthega:

SURFACE: Unsealed gravel/dirt rd all the way

BUSINESS: Some traffic on this rd, not a lot

PARKING: at Smiggins Holes Ski Resort at the top of the carpark

ROUTE: take the Link Rd, turn left at the end onto the Guthega Rd where you'll find BASECAMP Cafe at Guthega at the end of the road.

HIGHLIGHTS: Views of the Blue Ski Runs & onto the Main Range in particular Mt Twynam, Australia's 3rd highest Pk
Schlinks Pass Circuit:

SURFACE: Unsealed gravel/dirt rd all the way

BUSINESS: This track is behind locked gates but recreational access is allowed on foot & bike. Occaisional service vehicle may be encountered.

PARKING: at Guthega Power Station Car Park

ROUTE: cross the bridge & take Schlinks Rd from behind the Power Station. The first 1.5km is quite steep uphill. It's 8km to Schlinks Pass, you can return the same route or take the Horse Camp Hut Aquaduct Trail on your left headed downhill for a variation. NB. If​ you take the Dissappointment Spur Trail know the bridge is out at the end & a rock hop crossing is required

​DISTANCE: 16km return trip

HIGHLIGHTS: call in to the historic charming Horse Camp Hut & Whites River Hut, both a few hundred metres off the track.

BASECAMP Cafe is located a further 6km up the Guthega Rd from the carpark​
Guthega Power Station to Guthega:

SURFACE: Unsealed gravel/dirt rd all the way

BUSINESS: Some traffic on this rd, not a lot

​PARKING: at Guthega Power Sation Carpark​

ROUTE: from the carpark head back onto the Guthega Rd, the surface will immediately become gravel for the entirity of the ride

DISTANCE: 6km to BASECAMP Cafe or 12km return

HIGHLIGHTS: Views into the Upper Snowy River & Perisher Ck, if it's been raining you will see the Perisher Ck Falls!
