Alpine Flora

The true alpine zone of the Australian Alps is the 100square Kilometres located around Mt Kosciuszko. Regarded as one of the best alpine flora shows globally it's home to 212 species of flowering plants with 21 of them endemic to the area. Supported by a rich alpine humus the flowering commences as the first snows melt with Marsh Marigolds & Buttercups. The height of the flowering season is usually late December through to early February when the mountains are awash with hues of white, pink, purple & yellow into the late season blooms of the Trigger Plant & Mueller's Gentian well into Autumn.
